Passengers in Malindi boycott public transport citing fare hikes. From Mombasa to Malindi was Ksh.350 and was increased to Ksh. 450-550. The Matatu association has pleaded the government to look for other ways of raising cash rather than looking at the petroleum products.

"We have been in this stage since morning and now its evening parked our Matatus. When passengers come and hear the fares they turn back home and they say they will only call or leave what they are up to. We have never made anything today." Mwarandu Kombe said at Malindi stage.

"We are looking forward even to raise further the fares because there is no profit. "

Residents in Mombasa and Kilifi county have boycotted the Matatus citing that they are waiting for the MPs if they will assist them.
